An opposition party is expected to fight for people's issues. At the same time, if those in power are causing losses to the government exchequer, the opposition should strongly question them. However, the approach of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy appears to be different. The YSRCP strongly fought against the alleged illegal mining near Panchadarla Konda in Anakapalli district. After exposing the alleged illegal mining with evidence, the party's campaign forced the government to issue orders to stop the mining activity there. However, the YSRCP is also facing allegations that, on several key issues affecting the public, it is not taking the people's side and is instead trying to protect the interests of certain organizations. Since the coalition government came to power, there have been widespread allegations that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy appear to be moving forward with an understanding when it comes to certain industrialists and companies.
AMR India, which secured the contract to collect seigniorage charges in several districts of Andhra Pradesh, has been facing widespread allegations of harassing even farmers by collecting seigniorage fees when they excavate soil for their own personal needs. TDP circles have also alleged that this operation is being carried out by employing what they describe as a private army. Farmers as well as ordinary people in several districts are reportedly facing serious difficulties because of this issue. On the other hand, the company has allegedly been paying the seigniorage it collects after considerable delays. It has also allegedly evaded payment of the stamp duty legally due to the government. Despite this, YSRCP leaders have not openly spoken about the issue. There is also discussion that the main reason behind this silence is the close relationship between YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy and AMR chairman Mahesh Reddy.
Another interesting aspect being discussed among TDP leaders is that the coalition government is giving importance to Visweswar Reddy, who is reportedly considered close to Jagan, along with some others, apparently as part of a strategy to ensure that projects worth thousands of crores of rupees do not face problems in the future. The coalition leaders had strongly criticized the Indosol Solar project while they were in the opposition. However, after coming to power, they have reportedly extended their full cooperation to the company, even rolling out the red carpet for it. The company's chairman is known to be extremely close to Jagan Mohan Reddy, according to political circles. A similar situation is being alleged in the case of the Daspalla lands in Visakhapatnam, which are worth hundreds of crores of rupees. When the YSRCP was in the opposition, it had strongly alleged that the TDP was planning to grab these lands.
However, after coming to power, the YSRCP government cleared the way for these lands. They are now reportedly largely in the hands of people who are considered extremely close to the YSRCP. There is now talk that the two parties—the ruling party and the opposition—are cooperating and moving forward together over the Daspalla lands issue. Some ministers are reportedly saying that the main reason for this is that the respective shares are reaching the people they are supposed to reach. Against this backdrop, comments are being heard in political circles that the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh has now effectively turned into a joint venture government between the ruling party and the opposition.
