TDP, TRS locked horn on voting rights in MLC poll

As it is certain now elections to be held to elect six MLCs from Telangana MLAs with seven candidates are in the fray, both TDPand TRS leaders are now locked horn on the question of voting rights to certain members.TDP leaders were surprised after receiving voters list from the returning officer yesterday. TDP leaders Errabelli Dayakar Rao, L Ramana and A Reventh Reddy accused the Returning Officer of violating the norms by including Anglo-Indian MLA in the list of voters. They said representations would be made with the Election Commission of India and the TDP would also approach the court if required.
They have also objected to include name of Vemulawada legislator Ch Ramesh, who was earlier barred by the Supreme Court from voting in the united Andhra Pradesh assembly. They accused that the TRS has fielded the fifth candidate only to encourage defections in opposition parties.
However, TRS contended that the nominated Anglo-Indian member of Telangana Legislative Assembly enjoys the voting rights to elect MLCs., TRS candidate K Yadava Reddy accused the TDP of raising hue and cry over a non-issue. He asserted that both of them would be eligible to vote in Telangana State.Another TRS candidate Yadava Reddy suggested that the TDP could approach the court if it was not convinced with the TRS stand. He claimed that the TRS has sufficient strength to win all five out of six seats in the MLC elections.
