Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu today announced ace Badminton player PV Sindhu as Deputy Collector under the AP Public Service Commission (APPSC) Act. Speaking in the state assembly, the Minister stated that the Andhra Pradesh government is proud to give her the honour and added that the Act will be duly amended to accommodate Sindhu.
The move earned appreciation from the Assembly members with BJP legislator Vishnu Kumar Raju applauding the decision. He said that such moves would encourage the sports persons and also let youth to commit themselves to their careers and earn laurels for the state.
Earlier, the Assembly has unanimously passed the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill at a special session today. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that the Bill is very useful for the state and the Centre. He said the implementation of GST would cause a revenue loss of Rs 2,600 crore per annum to AP in the initial years.
Meanwhile, the YSRCP legislators staged protests in the Assembly by raising slogans, holding placards and surrounding the Speaker’s podium demanding resolution to problems of Chilli farmers. Reacting to YSRCP protests, Chandrababu criticized the member’s indignified behaviour, while the Assembly is passing a prestigious Bill.
