Madras High Court directed to preserve six bodies of AP encounter

The Madras High Court today has directed to preserve six bodies of those who were killed till the 17th of this month.The case came up for hearing before Justice M.Satyanarayanan this morning. The Justice directed the petitioner to approach the Andhra High Court for further action including the re-postmortem issue. The bodies are preserved at the District Government hospital at Tiruvannamalai.

Justice Sathya Narayanan pointed out that the Court could not direct any post mortem since the incident did not take place within the jurisdiction of the Madras High Court. In yesterday’s hearing the Advocate General Somayyaji told that the Government did not have any objection and would oblige if the Court ordered a fresh autopsy. The direction came in response to a petition by the wife of one of the labourer who was killed. The petitioner contended that apart from the bullet injuries there were cut injuries on the body of Sasikumar.

MDMK General Secretary Vaiko was arrested when he was marching towards Chittoor to condemn the shooting incident. DMK Leader M.Karunanidhi has announced an exgratia of Rs. 1 lakh to the bereaved families of the shooting incident. PMK Founder Dr.Ramadoss has urged a speedy enquiry into the matter and has expressed apprehensions about the the safety of many labourers who are still in the controversial forest. Tamil Nadu opposition leader Mr.Vijayakant, accused the State Government for not assuring employment for the youth who are enrolled in the District Employment office.
