The Bhartiya Janata Party and the Congress on Sunday criticised Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for issuing a circular asking his officials to lodge complaints against defamatory news items.
Speaking to media, Congress spokesperson P C Chako said Kejriwal should be more patient while dealing with criticism.Mr Chacko said, Mr Kejriwal is losing his ground very fast and Delhi government is not functioning properly and when the wrong-doings of the Delhi government are exposed by the media, the Chief Minister raises objections , which shows his anti-democratic attitude.
Meanwhile, BJP has also condemned the Aam Aadmi Party government for bringing out a draconian circular against media. Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay said it is veiled threat to the media and alleged that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has no faith in democracy, constitutional institutions and freedom of speech.
On Saturday, the Delhi Chief Minister had urged officials with the Delhi Government to lodge complaints against defamatory news items which damage the reputation of the government with the Principal Secretary of the Home Ministry.
