he Andhra Pradesh government will take up construction of 1.93 lakh houses in the next 15 months. Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana said after the meeting of the Group of Ministers on Urban development Policy Reforms, he said that the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was keen on completion of at least ten per cent of the houses by Sankranti festival for the beneficiaries to occupy them.
The Minister said that they have studied the progress of construction of houses and action plans. Similarly, officials of 110 municipalities and people’s representatives had toured 29 countries to study housing projects, cost of construction, quality and other aspects at the field level.
He assured that best practices will be followed in construction of houses in our State. Chief Minister wants these buildings to be strong and serve as a model for future generations. The houses will be modern, and top priority will be given to quality of construction and amenities, he added.
Narayana said that the houses would be built applying Turner technique (sheer wall) and pre-fabricated technologies. Apart from using vetified tiles, it would be ensured that the walls would be long-lasting. Also, the housing projects would be located at closest possible to the workspot and tenders would be called fixing the cost at Rs.1567 per sft.for taking up this monolithic concrete constructions, he said.
